Why This Site Exists
Maryland makes many public-record and custody tools available, but they are not held in one master inmate database. A person arrested in Allegany County, Prince George's County, or Wicomico County may be handled first through a local detention center. A person sentenced to state custody may appear through DPSCS instead. Federal prisoners use the Bureau of Prisons locator, immigration detainees use ICE's locator, and criminal case details sit with Maryland Judiciary records. This site acts as an independent statewide directory for those different channels.
What You Can Find
The main record paths are organized around the questions Maryland users usually bring to a custody search.
- Guidance for inmate records, jail rosters and mugshots, and court records after an arrest.
- A complete County Directory that routes visitors to each Maryland county or Baltimore City inmate-population site.
- A statewide Facility Directory covering county jails, state prisons, detention centers, work-release sites, juvenile facilities, and Maryland's federal prison entry.
- Plain-language help for using the DPSCS inmate locator, local roster paths, VINE, Maryland Case Search, BOP, and ICE ODLS.
What We Cannot Do
Maryland Inmate Population is privately operated. It is not DPSCS, not a county detention center, not a sheriff's office, not a court, not a police agency, and not a law firm. It cannot act for any Maryland government office or change a person's custody status.
- We cannot release, hold, transport, or transfer anyone in custody.
- We cannot post bond, schedule visits, add money to accounts, or send messages for a family member.
- We cannot provide legal advice, sentence calculations, or case strategy.
- We cannot guarantee that a phone number, fee, address, roster entry, or agency practice has not changed.
Only the responsible jail, court, law-enforcement agency, or DPSCS can confirm current custody, charges, release, or official records.
Search Partners
Some search boxes and research tools on this site are supplied by outside providers. Those providers may set their own fees, account terms, and search rules. If a visitor signs up for a paid partner tool after using a link or search box here, this site may receive a referral fee. That support helps keep the public reference pages available, but it does not give us control over a partner's prices, data sources, or results.
